The Benue State Executive Council has approved a 13.5 billion naira road project to unlock 30,000 hectares of land in Ogyoma-Akpa.
The infrastructure project, according to the Commissioner for Information and Orientation, Solomon Iorpev, serves as the state’s equity contribution towards a massive 250 million dollar National Food City Complex spanning Otukpo and Obi Local Government Areas.
This is the access route off the Otukpo-Ado Road into Ogyoma-Akpa, the future site of the 250 million dollar National Food City Complex. Community elders recently handed over the 30,000-hectare site to a government delegation and investors, presenting formal land consent letters to clear the way for development.
Following that milestone, the Benue State Executive Council, chaired by Governor Hyacinth Alia, ratified the legal contract for the crucial 12.5-kilometre access road.
State officials describe it as Benue’s largest public-private partnership to date, aimed at transforming food processing and local agriculture.
Backed by the Federal Government under its National Food Security Programme across six states, the project is designed to drive massive economic expansion across the region.
The official contract signing and award ceremony are scheduled for Monday, clearing the final hurdle for contractors to fully mobilise to Ogyoma-Akpa.
