A Chief Magistrate Court in Makurdi has ordered the remand of six suspects linked to a deadly terror attack in the Logo Local Government Area that claimed the lives of four police officers and eight civilians.

The suspects face a four-count charge, including terrorism, culpable homicide, and illegal possession of firearms.

The court’s action follows a high-stakes investigation by the Department of State Services, which also uncovered a separate arms-trafficking ring attempting to transport concealed weaponry across state lines.

The defendants, including Bibril Idrisa, Usama Mohammed, and Isah Ibrahim, stand accused of participating in the brutal September 10th invasion of Ayilamo village in Logo Local Government Area.

According to the First Information Report filed by the Department of State Services, the attackers armed with AK-47 rifles and pistols opened fire on civilians and ambushed law enforcement, killing four police officers: ASP Paul Inah, Inspector Mohammed Yusuf, Inspector Oge Okechukwu, and Inspector Andrew Edeh.

The breakthrough came after DSS intelligence intercepted reports of a gunshot victim receiving treatment at a hospital in neighbouring Awe, Nasarawa State.

That lead unravelled the network behind the bloodshed, though at least twenty-five other accomplices remain at large.

In a related arraignment, three additional suspects, including Friday Ajonye and Abdulhadi Sani, were remanded for illegal arms trafficking.

Security forces intercepted six pistols concealed inside a sack of garri, bound for Warri via a commercial transport service.

Presiding Chief Magistrate Regina Alashi declined to take the defendants’ pleas due to lack of jurisdiction over the capital and terrorism charges, remanding all six to the Makurdi Maximum Correctional Centre.

The case has been adjourned to January 11, 2027, for further mention, as security agencies intensify efforts to track down fleeing syndicate members.

Police and DSS operatives confirm that intelligence operations are ongoing across Benue and neighbouring Nasarawa State to apprehend the remaining suspects still on the run.
