As part of ways to create more awareness and garner collective support for the countless displaced persons in Benue State north central Nigeria, youths under the aegis of Benue hike group in their number initiated a 22 kilometre walk within Makurdi metropolis.
They say it is a call for collective support beyond the State or Federal Government to ensure the greater problem of insecurity is nipped in the bud and build confidence for the safe return of the IDPS.
The great trek 2022 officially kicks off accross parts of the nation’s food basket’s administrative capital to commemorate the world humanitarian day.

The 22.7 kilometre walk remains significant in Benue State which has continued to grapple with a humanitarian crisis of immense proportion.
While the world immortalises the 22 humanitarian workers bombed in Iraq in 2003 the walk is a call for collective action to save millions alive yet dislodged, disenchanted, homeless and struggling for a sense of belonging in their own country.
