As part of measures to boost to engage and develop the youths, the Benue State Government has disclosed plans to organise a Governor’s Sports competition.
Governor Samuel Ortom made this known at the grand finale of the Eunice Spring of Life Football Tournament in Makurdi, the state capital.
The grand finale of the football tournament, which featured both male and female teams had Cambridge Football Club of Gboko defeating Avail Football Club of Otukpo 1 goal to nil in the male category, while Honey Badgers FC of Makurdi defeated Logo Queens FC of Ugba 3-2 in a penalty shoot-out.
The contest that begun about a month ago with youths from the 23 local councils of the State actively competing for the first ever Eunice Spring of Life Foundation Football Cup climaxed on Sunday.
Wife of the State Governor took the first kick to start the finals between the Honey Badgers Football Club of Makurdi and Logo Queens of Ugba in the female category while the wife of the Deputy Governor officially kicked off the male category match between Avail FC of Otukpo and Cambridge FC of Gboko
The maiden football tournament of the Eunice Spring of Life Foundation has successfully winded down with winners emerging but more importantly lots of talents have been harnessed.
