The Lord Mayor of Leeds City, United Kingdom, Abigail Katung, has pledged to promote peace, security, culture, and traditions by strengthening bilateral ties with the Nigerian community.
Abigail Katung, a Nigerian-British politician, made this commitment during a courtesy visit to the paramount ruler of Ham Chiefdom, Jonathan Maude, at his palace in Kwoi, Jaba Local Government Area of Kaduna State.
The Lord Mayor of Leeds, Abigail Katung, who hails from Ham Chiefdom in Southern Kaduna, was accompanied by Senator Sunday Katung, representing Kaduna South, during her visit to the palace of Kpop Ham, Jonathan Maude, the custodian of the Nork culture.

Katung emphasized the critical role of culture as a tool for driving socio-economic development in society.
While advocating for promotion of the girl-child education and youth empowerment as vehicles for sustainable development, Kpop Ham Jonathan Maude and the traditional council welcomed the initiative, expressing optimism about building stronger ties between the Chiefdom and Leeds City.

The traditional ruler appealed to the UK government to support establishment of a sports academy and skills acquisition centers in Ham Chiefdom.
He noted that such initiatives would enhance economic growth and development in the region.
