Boat Conveying 100 Passengers, Goods, Capsizes In Niger State

A boat carrying no fewer than 100 passengers traveling from Duggar in Kanji axis of Borgu Local Government Area, Niger State to Wara market in Kebbi State has capsized.

This is contained in a statement by the spokesman of the Niger State Emergency Management Agency (NSEMA), Ibrahim Hussain.

According to the report, the incident occurred on Sunday, January 14 at about 2:05 pm when the fully loaded passenger boat which was equally conveying goods such as grains and sugar cane worth millions of Naira lost control.

The Agency said that search and rescue operations being conducted by local divers, NSEMA, and the local government are ongoing, assuring that its Desk officers are on the ground to give details as developments unfold.

“As of the time of writing this interim report, no clear information about deaths and survivors”, the statement read in part.
