All entry points into Borno State will be closed down to vehicular and human traffic from Tuesday, March 31.
The closure will last for two weeks in the first instance.
This is part of the steps to curb the spread of coronavirus, especially as the number of infected persons continue to increase across the country.
In a statement, Governor Babagana Zulum says, only vehicles and trucks conveying food items, medicines, fuel and other such goods would be allowed access to the State.
The statement also restricts the number of passengers to 3 in public taxis and not more than 2 on tricycles, popularly known as Keke NAPEP.
It directs civil servants from grade levels 1 to 12 to work from home, except those on essential services.

It also suspends the ongoing verification exercise of some government officials.
The Borno State Government advises financial institutions and shops to provide hand sanitizers and temperature monitoring equipment at all operational points and maintain social distancing in crowded areas.
The statement says, government has put in place, palliatives to cushion the hardship of vulnerable people.
Borno, with its large population of displaced persons, due to insurgency, could face some level of difficult situation, in the event of Coronavirus outbreak in the State.
