Bandits have attacked the Jos Custodial Centre in Plateau State, North-Central Nigeria with sporadic gun shots as operatives immediately rearrested five inmates who attempted to escape from the facility.
The attackers reportedly pretended to be on visit before opening fire on reaching the gate of Centre located around West of Mines in the Plateau State capital.

The Jos Custodial Centre shares perimetre fence with the Plateau State Headquarters of the Department of State Services, DSS, and the Police Divisional and Area Command Offices.
There is a Police barracks and the Plateau State Police Command Headquarters also within the neighbourhood of Jos Custodial Centre.
The attackers operated for over an hour with gunshots still being heard within neighbourhood of Jos Custodial Centre as at the time of this report.
