An aircraft has reportedly crashed in Igbokoda, headquarters of Ilaje Local Government Area of Ondo State, South-West Nigeria with the crew feared dead.
The incident, which occurred on Monday, triggered panic in the coastal community as details of the crash remained sketchy.
The number of people aboard the aircraft, as well as the condition of possible survivors, are yet to be officially confirmed as of the time of filing this report.
Ondo State Police Command has confirmed the incident, saying details surrounding the crash were still emerging as authorities work to establish the circumstances.
In a statement signed by the Command’s Police Public Relations Officer, Jimoh Abayomi, the police urged residents of Igbokoda and adjoining communities to remain calm and refrain from circulating unverified information.
Authorities are expected to provide further details as search and rescue efforts and investigations continue.
