The Independent National Electoral Commission, INEC, has confirmed the hijack of electoral materials in Afafanyi/Igonigoni Ward of Yakurr/Abi Federal and State Constituencies in Cross River State, South-South Nigeria.
The Commission says 9 Smart Card Readers, 5,616 Ballot Papers, and Result Sheets among other electoral materials were reported missing.
The Commission has however cancelled the Election in Afafayin/Igonigoni Ward consisting of 8 polling units, 5,616 registered voters due to violence, abduction of SPO, ballot papers, result sheets and smart card readers.
INEC while appealing to the public to exercise patience, assured that results from the polling units will reflect in the final collation and declaration of results, adding that it does not reward impunity or violence.
