President Muhammadu Buhari has arrived at the official opening session of the Commonwealth Heads of Government meeting in Rwanda.
The president who arrived at 9:55 am Rwandan time, took his turn to participate in the handshake session with the Rwandan President, Paul Kagame and Patricia Scotland, the Secretary-General of the Commonwealth.

The handshake session is an official programme, preceding the formal opening of the meeting, where all participating 54 Commonwealth leaders, take turns to be received by the host Commonwealth leader and the Commonwealth Secretary-General.
The session will be followed by the main High-Level meetings, from Friday 24th to Saturday 25th.
Commonwealth leaders are in Rwanda, to reaffirm their common values, and agree on actions and policies, to improve the lives of all their citizens.
Four forums; Ministerial meetings, side events and other activities were earlier held to discuss common issues impacting the economic and social development of the commonwealth.
