By-Elections: INEC expresses readiness for Cross River constituency polls

All is now set for Ogoja-Yala Federal Constituency and Akpabuyo State Constituency by-elections in Cross River, as the Independent National Electoral Commission, INEC, has distributed materials across the three local Government Areas involved in the election slated for Saturday.

Speaking during the distribution and transportation of sensitive materials from the Central Bank of Nigeria, CBN, in Calabar to the Local Government Areas (LGAs) involved, National Commissioner of INEC, Festus Okoye said the process so far has been successful.
The Commissioner said the affected political parties and Civil Society Organisations, CSOs, inspected the electoral materials deposited with the CBN before the distribution.

He said the representatives of the political parties and security agencies will escort the Materials to the local Government headquarters of Akpabuyo,Ogoja and Yala Council Areas.

Some of the representatives of the political Parties who spoke on the distribution of the sensitive materials,commended INEC for what it has done so far.

INEC reiterated that the use of incident forms has been banned by the commission as the Bi- Modal Voter Accreditation System (BIVAS) that is customized to each polling unit will be used.
