Nigerian champions, Edo Queens, have crashed out of the CAF Women’s Champions League qualifiers after losing 3-2 to Ghanaian side Hassacas Ladies’ rivals, Ampem Darkoa, in the resumed WAFU B final in Cairo, Egypt.
Edo Queens had initially won the final 4-2 on penalties after a 2-2 draw in regulation time.
However, CAF nullified the result, ruling that the match should have proceeded to extra time instead of a penalty shootout.
The continental governing body ordered the match to resume under the same conditions, beginning with extra time, where Ampem Darkoa eventually secured a 3-2 victory.
The defeat ends Edo Queens’ hopes of progressing the continental women’s club competition.
