No fewer than thirty-nine petitions on police brutality and restitution have been received by the Cross River State judicial panel of inquiry sitting in Calabar, Cross River State capital.
Chairman of the panel and former chief judge of Cross River State, Justice Micheal Edem, made this known during the inaugural sitting of the panel at the ministry of justice headquarters, Calabar.
Justice Edem while urging the petitioners to give accurate data and statistics, assured them that justice will be done, and stressed that the panel will not be used as an instrument of settling scores.
He, however, adjourned the hearing of petitions, to enable petitioners to have proper documentation of the petitions so as to resolve the issue of jurisdiction.
