The 2024 Calabar Carnival has once again cemented its reputation as Africa’s biggest and most vibrant street party, with Calas Vegas emerging as a standout performer for the second consecutive year.
The band dominated both the Senior and Children’s Carnival categories, captivating audiences and judges with their breathtaking costumes, electrifying performances, and creative interpretation of the year’s theme, “Our Shared Prosperity.”
Calas Vegas was followed by Seagull and Freedom Band in the Senior category, while Seagull and Bayside Band took second and third positions, respectively, in the Children’s Carnival.
The carnival, known for its fusion of culture, creativity, and community spirit, reached new heights this year with the attendance of prominent dignitaries.
Speaking during the flag-off ceremony the State Governor Bassey Otu highlighted the importance of this year’s theme, describing it as a call to integrate economic, social, and cultural prosperity into the lives of the people.

Spectators at the Carnival expressed their excitement and admiration for the event, describing it as a breathtaking showcase of culture and creativity.
Among the notable guests were Hajia Aisha Buhari, wife of Nigeria’s immediate past president, her children, and the governors of Kwara State, AbdulRahman AbdulRazaq, and Kogi State, Ahmed Ododo.
