Reactions have continued to trail the defection of the Deputy Governor of Ondo State, Agboola Ajayi, from the ruling All Progressives Congress, APC, to the Peoples Democratic Party, PDP.
While some legal practitioners see the move by the Deputy Governor as not contravening constitutional provisions, the leadership of the APC and government officials want Ajayi to resign his position on moral ground.
On Sunday, June 21, Ajayi resigned his membership of the APC.
Less than 24 hours after, he was officially welcomed to the PDP by the National Chairman, Uche Secondus, and other party chieftains in Akure, the state capital.
While there are alleged moves by the State House of Assembly to impeach the embattled Deputy Governor, many people are asking if the defection of Ajayi contravenes any provision of the law, to warrant his removal from office
For the leadership of the APC in the state, the Deputy Governor should resign, based on moral grounds.

But, there are also concerns about whether the coming of a sitting Deputy Governor will cause disunity in the camp of the PDP.
As political parties prepare for their party primaries in July, more alignment and re-alignment are expected, ahead of the October 10 governorship election in the state.
