Imo and Abia State governments in Nigeria’s southeast are calling for one additional state in the geopolitical zone to be at par with other zones in the country.
The two States made their submissions in Owerri at the House of Representatives public hearing for the review of the 1999 Constitution.

The popular feeling among participants at the hearing is that an additional state in the South East will substantially address the issue of marginalisation in the zone.
The public hearing for Abia and the Imo States was due to hold last month but was suspended due to the rising Insecurity in parts of the SouthEast
