For thousands of internally displaced persons across Nigeria, life in temporary camps has stretched into years, with many still unable to return home and rebuild their lives
There are hoever, renewed calls for government to prioritise their resettlement, so they can leave the camps and regain the dignity, stability and sense of belonging that come with a befitting home
Speaking during a visit to the Kuchigoro IDP Camp, President of the National Council of Registered Insurance Brokers, Ekeoma Ezeibe, said the conditions in the camp should prompt urgent action to provide lasting solutions for displaced persons.
The Chairman of the Kuchigoro IDP Camp appreciated the gesture, but called for a faster and more permanent solution that will allow displaced families to leave the camp and begin rebuilding their lives in safe communities.
Beyond government intervention, the stakeholders also appealed to well-meaning Nigerians to remember vulnerable families living in displacement and support efforts that can help them move from dependence to a life of dignity and self-reliance.
