Executive Vice Chairman and Chief Executive Officer of the Federal Competition and Consumer Protection Commission, FCCPC, Tunji Bello has revealed how cartels in the poultry and packaging industries manipulate the market to keep prices high despite the Federal Government’s interventions.

Bello made this known during a stakeholders interaction in Uyo, the Akwa Ibom state capital, South-South Nigeria where he met with industry players, market leaders, farmers, transporters, service providers and Non – Governmental Organisations, NGOs.

Bello’s revelation about the actions of cartels in the poultry and packaging industries stunned those in attendance but he gave reasons why those involved in such acts have not been prosecuted so far.

The FCCPC boss highlighted measures put in place by the President Bola Tinubu administration to cushion the effect of the harsh economic reforms including waiver of duties on food imports among others.

The interactive session in Uyo is part of the nationwide advocacy against exploitative pricing in the market.
