Nigerians and the international community will have to wait for a few more days to determine if the interest rate of Africa’s largest economy will see any changes following a postponement of Monetary Policy Committee, MPC, meeting of the Central Bank of Nigeria, CBN
The shift of the MPC meeting which is the first in 2020 is contained in a statement signed by CBN’s Director of Corporate Communications Isaac Okoroafor.
The meeting was earlier scheduled for January 20 and 21 but will now begin on Thursday January 23rd and decisions of the Committee will be announced on the 24th of January 2020.
During a review at the last meeting of the Committee held in November 2019, members voted unanimously to retain the Monetary Policy Rate (MPR) at 13.5 per cent and to hold all other policy parameters constant.
