An elaborate ceremony proclaiming Charles III as king of England is on going.
The Garter of Arms stood on the balcony of St James’s Palace and proclaimed Charles III the new king as Crowds sang ‘God save the King’ as the band played, before giving three cheers.

Charles III swore an oath during the elaborate ceremony and paid tribute to the late Queen, Prince William, Queen Camilla, serving politicians and former prime ministers were in attendance.
A wave of further proclamations will take place across the UK until Sunday. The Queen, the UK’s longest-reigning monarch, died peacefully at Balmoral Castle on Thursday afternoon at the age of 96.
