The chief judge of the federal high court of Nigeria, Justice John Tsoho has issued new practice directions.
The directive titled, federal high court of Nigeria practice directions no. 2 of 2020, is expected to regulate and guide the conduct of proceedings in all the divisions of the court across the country.
In a statement signed by the acting information officer of the court Oby Nwandu, the practice directions ,took effect from the 24th of July, 2020.
Justice Tsoho who made reference to sections 254, section 2 of the 1999 constitution, mandated that all trial courts in every pre-election matter should deliver judgment within 180 days from the date of filing the suit.
Justice Tsoho ,said judge’s will hear pre-election matter already pending before the court, during the vacation period until judgment is delivered and that no petition shall be entertained against a judge of the court hearing a pre-election matter save from a party on record in such matter.

He also said that any party that records petitions, should accompany the petition with an affidavit verifying the contents of the petition and that any petition addressed to the chief judge, should be accompanied by the proof of service, including the judge concerned.
