The Chinese government is funding the construction of the new building of the Economic Community of West African States, ECOWAS, in Abuja, the Nigerian capital.
The groundbreaking ceremony of the new ECOWAS building was performed just before the commencement of the 62nd Ordinary Session of body’s Authority of Heads of State and Government held in Abuja.
Meanwhile, the new President of the ECOWAS Commission, Omar Alieu Touray has been sworn-in.

The event which held at the Banquet Hall of the Presidential Villa had in attendance President Muhammadu Buhari who is the host of the summit and the President of Guinea Bissau, Umaro Sissoco Embalo who is also the Chairman of the ECOWAS Authority of Heads of State and Government.
Other leaders were President Julius Mada Bio of Sierra Leone, President Nana Akufo-Addo of Ghana, and President Adama Barow of Gambia, among others.
