Civil servants on grade levels 1-12 have been directed to resume work by the end of August.
The Bayelsa State Governor, Douye Diri gave the directive after five months of workers stay-at-home order in the wake of the coronavirus outbreak in the state.
The Governor also announced at a meeting of the state’s COVID-19 Taskforce in Yenagoa, the completion of the State owned COVID-19 testing laboratory which is set for commissioning this Tuesday.
The Bayelsa State government had on March 26, 2020 ordered workers from grade level 1-12 to embark on an indefinite compulsory leave.
This was to decongest the offices in the bid to contain the spread of COVID-19.
Bayelsa State has also recorded 20 new cases from students participating in the West African Examination Council.
Although, the affected students are said to be asymptomatic, they have been isolated.
Bayelsa State has in recent times witnessed drastic decline in the number of COVID-19 cases.
The figure shows 370 confirmed cases, 325 discharged patients, 24 active and 21 fatalities.
