The Coalition of Northern Groups, (CNG), wants the Federal and Zamfara State Governments to work in harmony in finding lasting solutions to the security challenges bedeviling the state and the Northwest of the country in general.

The CNG said this during a condolence visit to the Zamfara State government and its people, over the abduction of female students of the Federal University of Gusau and some construction workers at the Sabon Gida community.

The group warned the disunity among security agencies will not help but worsen the situation, leaving the people at the mercy of criminals

The Coalition of Northern Groups says it is in Zamfara State to console the state government and its people, over the abduction of female students of the Federal University of Gusau and some construction workers, at the Sabon Gida community and the university premises last Friday.

It calls on the Federal Government to provide hostel accommodations to the students, especially the females, and beef up security, in and around the university community to safeguard both students and staff.

Responding on behalf of the Zamfara State Government, Chief of Staff to the Governor, Moukhtar Lugga said there are no plans to negotiate with bandits as being suggested, insisting that such a move is the wrong way to go in the war against banditry.

He described the ongoing offensive being carried out against the bandits by the military and other security forces is the best hope of achieving results
