The Chief of Army Staff, Lieutenant General Waidi Shaibu, has reaffirmed the Nigerian Army’s commitment to strengthening combat readiness through sustained support, clear policy direction, and enhanced operational capacity.
The assurance was given at the closing ceremony of the 2026 Combat Support Arms Training Week in Uyo, Akwa Ibom State.
After a week of drills, the programme came to an end with the Chief of Army staff , Lieutenant General Waidi Shaibu urged participants to use the knowledge gained to improve operational effectiveness in the field.
He was represented by the Army Chief of Special Services and Programmes, Major General Aminu Garba.

Also speaking, Akwa Ibom State Governor, Umo Eno, represented by the Commissioner for Internal Security and Waterways, Retired Brigadier General Koko Essien, expressed confidence in the Nigerian Army’s ability to tackle security challenges and promote peace across the country.
The week-long programme featured tactical exercises, combat demonstrations, equipment displays, and the presentation of the 2026 COSAT Week communiqué.
