Residents of Yanji Mining Community in Tafawa Balewa Local Government Area of Bauchi State, North-East Nigeria have staged a peaceful protest to demand the quick intervention of the State Government in an attempt by their Village Heads to sell off their ancestral homes to some foreign miners.
Members of the community are urging the government to interfere in the matter within the shortest period possible.
Gambar Sabon Layi is a community leader within Tafawa Balewa Local Government with a long history of mining that have attracted local, national and international operators who are in the business of escalating mostly tin in large quantities.
As such, members of the community, have embarked on peaceful protests accusing some of their kinsmen of conniving with foreign miners, to sell their ancestral land for mining.

Ishaya Jikil is one of the Village Heads who is being accused by members of the community. When contacted on telephone, he said he would not speak to me on camera, but denied that he knew anything about the sale of the land to foreign miners.
The community members say the State Government should urgently launch an investigation into the matter and call their kinsmen to order before the matter gets out of hand.
