The group rejected the interference in the selection of the senate president at a media briefing on Wednesday in Abuja.
They insisted that the senators should be allowed to elect their president, independent of the judiciary, executive or any political party.

The group wants a level playing field, where a leadership election will be conducted fairly, with whoever secures the majority of votes being declared the winner.
They noted that with the removal of fuel subsidy and the anticipated hardship on the people, a robust senate leadership that will make laws to cushion the effect is required.
