As part of Community Development Service, CDS, which is a programme of the National Youth Service Corps, NYSC, a serving member, Abdullahi Nuhu with State Code KT/23A/0015, has laid foundation to construct a clinic for his host community in Katsina State, North-West Nigeria.
Nuhu, who is a corps medical doctor posted to the Umaru Musa Yar’Adua University Clinic as his place of primary assignment, decided to leave a legacy behind by constructing a clinic for a remote village in Batagarawa Local Government Area, that is the host community of the university.
In a statement by the NYSC State Public Relations Officer, Alex Obemeata, the corps member, Abdullahi Nuhu though posted to Umaru Musa Yar’Adua University Clinic, took it upon himself to construct the health facility for free after observing that most of the people coming for treatment in the University facility were from the particular village very far away.
The statement explained that, the decided to build the clinic for the community is to alleviate their suffering where they have to travel long distances to access healthcare as the University authority, gave him the support and encouragement.

Speaking during the foundation laying ceremony, the Katsina State NYSC Coordinator, Aisha Muhammad appealed to the various communities, the government, and good people of Katsina State to invest and encourage youth corps members to do more while assuring them that they are willing and ready to impact positively on lives of their host communities.
She admonished other youth corps members to make efforts and embark on community-oriented projects in their host communities like Dr. Abdullahi Nuhu.
The Vice Chancellor of the University who spoke through his Deputy said that the Institution is ever ready to sponsor more Corps Members for similar projects.
While praising the CDS programme of the NYSC, the VC also used the opportunity to appeal to the NYSC to consider the institution for a Corps of Doctors soon.
Villagers from the community were also in attendance in their numbers during the ceremony.
