The police in Sierra say a number of senior military officers, have been arrested for “working to undermine the peace and tranquillity of the state”.
The statement by the police accused the unnamed soldiers now in custody, along with some civilians, of planning violent protests between 7 and 10 of August.
That statement adds that unnamed individuals both within and outside the country were plotting to undermine peace in the West African nation which held highly contentious elections in June at which incumbent Julius Bio won a second term.
ait.live confirmed the arrests from a reporter with the Sierra Leone state broadcaster who preferred not to be named.
