Federal High Court sitting in Kaduna has adjourned the hearing of the bail application filed by former Kaduna State Governor, Nasir El-Rufai, till Wednesday.

The proceedings were held under tight security with the presiding judge, Justice Rilwan Aikawa, adjourning the hearing of the bail application to the following day after arguments in court.

Counsel to the former governor, Ukpong Akpan, confirmed the adjournment but declined to provide further details, noting that legal processes were still ongoing.

El-Rufai, who is standing trial on a 10-count charge bordering on alleged conversion of public property and money laundering, was later escorted out of the court premises by operatives of the Independent Corrupt Practices and Other Related Offences Commission, ICPC.

Earlier in the day, the former governor was also arraigned before a Kaduna State High Court on separate charges including alleged abuse of office and fraud.

The case has continued to attract significant public attention, with security tightened around the court as proceedings continue.

The hearing of the bail application is expected to resume on Wednesday.
