The Federal High Court Abuja, has adjourned hearing of the eighty-four billion naira money laundering suit instituted by the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission against the immediate past Governor of Kogi State, Yahaya Bello, to April 23rd.
The adjournment is for substituted service and possible arraignment.
At the resumed hearing , Counsel for the EFCC, Kemi Pinheiro, notified the court that the immediate past governor of Kogi State Yahaya Bello is absent from court for his arraignment, adding that the former governor was whisked out of his residence by persons with immunity.
He said it might require the military to fish him out face his arraignment.
Yahaya Bello, through his counsel Abdulwahab Muhammad, said there is an order from a Kogi High court on a fundamental human rights suit restraining the EFCC from arresting or arraigning him.
He added that the EFCC has appealed the ruling and the court of appeal is yet to decide on it therefore EFCC’s act is unconstitutional and the court lacks jurisdiction to entertain any charge from the Anti graft agency.
