Two persons arrested over alleged involvement in the disruption of proceedings at the Bayelsa State High Court 3 in Yenagoa, presided over by Justice Enaye Aganaba have been arraigned and subsequently remanded at the Okaka Correctional Centre on the orders of a Magistrate Court.
Prosecution Counsel Monday Benabo had during his presentation before the Magistrate, submitted that the request for remand were based on the gravity of the offence, which bordered on suspicion of armed robbery and attempted murder.
He also said the application was made to give time for investigation to be concluded and for the case to be transferred to a court of competent jurisdiction.
However, Defence Counsel Stanley Damabide who cited section 266, sub section 2 and 5 of the Administration of Criminal Justice Law argued against the remand application, insisting his clients were arrested only on suspicion.
The Presiding Magistrate, Peres Brossa in judgement ruled in favour of the prosecution, ordering the suspects to kept in custody for 30 days to give time for full investigation.
