The Court of Appeal Kano Division has dismissed the May 18 judgement of Federal High Court Kano, which purportedly nullified the election of Abia State Governor, Alex Otti.
The court while dismissing the appeal held that the trial court was hasty in the determination of the suit even without joining necessary parties who were the actual targets of the claims in the suit. The appellate court also awarded N1 million cost against the plaintiff.
This judgment is coming barely two weeks after Governor Otti won at the Abia State Governorship Election Petition Tribunal, in the petition filed by the opposition party, challenging the outcome of the March 18 Governorship election in the state.
Justice M. N. Yunusa had on May 18, ruled in favour of one Haruna Ibrahim who sought the disqualification of all elected candidates of Labour Party including Alex Otti.
