Court of Appeal Abuja has upheld the judgement of the Federal High Court directing the Independent National Electoral Commission, INEC to upload the name of Abdulghani Arobo as the All Progressives Congress, APC candidate for Owo-Ose Federal Constituency of Ondo State, South-West Nigeria.
A three-member panel of the appellate court held that the trial court was right to have issued the order after finding Arobo to be the winner of the APC primary election conducted in May 2026. It subsequently dismissed the appeal for lacking merit.
Justice Peter Lifu of the Federal High Court in Abuja had declared Arobo the winner of the APC primary election after finding that he secured the majority of the lawful votes cast.
The trial court reached the decision after resolving the issues raised by Arobo in his favour, following the party’s failure to declare a winner in the primary election for the Owo-Ose Federal Constituency seat.

Consequently, Justice Lifu ordered INEC to reopen its candidate nomination portal to enable the party to upload Arobo’s name as the lawful winner of the primary election.
Dissatisfied with the judgement, four other aspirants who participated in the primary filed separate applications before the Court of Appeal, seeking to join the proceedings and challenge the trial court’s decision.
