2026 03 09 Federal High Court Abuja

Federal High Court Abuja has refused to grant bail to John Agbo, who is standing trial over allegations that he planned coordinated attacks on schools in the Federal Capital Territory, Abuja.

Justice Joyce Abdulmalik dismissed the bail application after the prosecution concluded its case by calling its fourth and final witness.

Agbo is facing terrorism and cybercrime charges over an alleged plot targeting schools, students and teachers in Abuja.

In her ruling, Justice Abdulmalik held that the defence failed to provide sufficient assurances that the defendant would appear for trial if released.

She consequently ordered that Agbo remain in the custody of the Nigerian Correctional Service pending the conclusion of the trial.

During the proceedings, an operative of the Department of State Services, DSS narrated how investigators tracked Agbo and his alleged associates.

The court also admitted and played a video recording of Agbo’s interview with investigators as part of the prosecution’s evidence.

With the prosecution now closing its case, the court adjourned the matter until 24th September when the defendant is expected to begin presenting his defence.
