Justice Ahmad Badamasi of the Kano State High Court Monday struck out the suit instituted by four Kano kingmakers challenging the creation of new emirates in the state.
Following the enactment of Kano Emirs Appointment and Deposition Law 2019, the kingmakers approached the court asking it to declare the law illegal, unconstitutional null and void.
Delivering ruling in the case filed on May 14, 2019, Justice Badamasi averred that the validity of the law is the whole issue for determination.
The judge, however, said having taken judicial notice of judgment of Justice Usman Na’abba on November 21, 2019, nullifying the law, any action taken is a nullity, void, and of no legal effect. He, therefore, struck out the suit.

Counsel for the plaintiffs, Sagir Gezawa, said they would study the ruling and consult before taking the next action.
The four new first class emirs in Kano State have survived two legal hurdles to remain in office. Their appointment is still subject of litigation.
