Asita who was the former chairman of the Nigerian Maritime Administration and Safety Agency (NIMASA)is challenging the election of Harry who contested under the platform of the People’s Democratic Party, PDP for failing to acquire the number of valid votes.
He had prayed the court to declare the election held on February 25 which produced Harry as the winner of Rivers West Senatorial District as null and void and make him winner of the election.
The Tribunal however held that Asita failed to prove that the first respondent, Harry didn’t win by majority of lawful votes and was unable to produce a figure-based analysis of votes cast that show his votes higher than that of the respondent.
