The Federal High Court in Abuja has affirmed Oladipupo Adebutu as the governorship candidate of the People’s Democratic Party in Ogun State.
Justice Inyang Ekwo dismissed the suit filed by Jimi Lawal challenging the PDP’s use of a delegates’ list in the conduct of the governorship primary election on May 25, 2022, as against the list of delegates, who he claimed was democratically elected for that purpose, on grounds that there was no credible evidence before the court to institute the suit.

The court also held that the plaintiff played the role of a spoiler in the affairs of the party having defected from the All Progressives Congress in March 2022 and participated in the primaries May primary election.
The court also held that the delegates list Lawal is challenging is the same list approved by the PDP and the Independent National Electoral Commission, INEC, which was used during the primaries in which Adebutu emerged as the party’s governorship candidate.
