Following intervention from labour unions in the Aviation sector, the Federal Airports Authority of Nigeria, FAAN has rescinded its decision to pay workers 50 percent of their May salaries.

The unions comprising of the National Union of Air Transport Employees, NUATE and the Air Transport Services Senior Staff Association of Nigeria, ATSSSAN in an internal circular to their members said the management of FAAN after serious negotiations that lasted for a while had to change its decision to pay half salary for the month of May 2020.

As a result of the negotiation, the management of FAAN has agreed to pay full May salary across all grade levels while payment in subsequent months will be subject to improvement in revenue generation.

FAAN had a few days ago in a circular to workers disclosed that the agency will only be able to pay 50 percent of staff salaries from the month of May due to significant fall in revenue in the sector occasioned by the impact of the Covid-19 pandemic. The unions had opposed the move and had to meet with the management of FAAN.
