The Vice-Chancellor of the Kwara State University (KWASU), Malete, Professor Muhammed Akanbi, has stressed the need for the total reopening of schools in the country.
Akanbi, made the call at Newskeg programme of the correspondents chapel of the Nigeria Union of Journalists, Kwara state council in Ilorin, He noted that the earlier students go back to schools, the better as the public should learn to live with the Covid-19 by complying with the safety protocols
He maintained that no higher institution of learning can survive beyond 2020 if they are not fully opened, adding that physical learning cannot be compared to online teachings.
Akanbi stressed further that though the pandemic has posed a challenge to all sectors of the economy, but it is not ravaging Africa as it is in the western world which he said means Africans are still doing certain things right hence government should reopen the schools fully since no cure has been found yet.

The Don submitted that a way forward for the Nigerian professors is to ensure they go into quality oriented research that must proffer solutions to problems and not just for doing sake. It must spell out the benefits that would be derived in few years to come
