The Plateau State Police Command has a new Commissioner of Police, CP Faniyan Ayodeji who assumes duty as the 47th Commissioner of Police in the state.
He takes over with over three decades of policing experience and a strong background in investigation, peacekeeping and internal security.
Born on February 8, 1967, CP Faniyan holds a Bachelor’s degree in Zoology from Obafemi Awolowo University, Ile-Ife, and a Master’s degree in Security and Strategic Studies from the Nigerian Defence Academy, Kaduna.
He enlisted into the Nigeria Police Force as a Cadet Assistant Superintendent of Police in 1994 and emerged as the overall best cadet in academics.
A Fellow of the National Defence College, CP Faniyan has also undergone several strategic and professional courses in leadership, command and security management.
He has served in various operational, investigative and administrative capacities, including as Commander of the Nigerian Contingent of the United Nations Peacekeeping Mission in South Sudan and Deputy Commissioner of Police in charge of Investigations at Zone 5 Headquarters, Benin City.
As the new Commissioner of Police, CP Faniyan is expected to build on existing security efforts, strengthen police-community relations and deepen collaboration with stakeholders to enhance security across Plateau State.
The Plateau State Police Command is calling for the support and cooperation of the government, traditional and religious leaders, community organisations, the media and residents in the collective effort to sustain peace and public safety across the state.
