The All Progressives Congress in Cross River State has sent a strong signal ahead of the 2027 general elections with the unanimous affirmation of Governor Bassey Otu as the party’s sole governorship candidate.
The endorsement, coming from delegates and stakeholders across the eighteen local government areas, underscores growing cohesion within the ruling party, as national officials commend the administration’s performance and political strength in the state.
The endorsement of governor Bassey Otu as the party’s sole governorship candidate came during the APC governorship primaries held in the state on Wednesday, as party leaders, delegates and party faithful across various wards unanimously threw their weights behind him.

Representing the national leadership of the party, APC Deputy National Treasurer, Ben Akak, who monitored the exercise at different wards in Calabar South, Calabar Municipality and Odupkani, described the impressive turnout as a reflection of the confidence party members have in Governor Bassey Otu’s leadership.
He said the governor has continued to justify the trust placed in him through ongoing infrastructure projects, support for small businesses, pension reforms and efforts aimed at inclusive governance.
Governor Bassey Otu, who was at his country home at Adiabo during the exercise, thanked party members for the confidence reposed in him, describing the affirmation as a call for greater commitment and service to the people.
With the unanimous affirmation of Governor Bassey Otu, the APC in Cross River appears determined to enter the 2027 political season from a position of strength and internal stability.
