The Independent National Electoral Commission, INEC, says it will cancel any polling unit reported to have involved in any violence during the forthcoming by-election in Cross River North Senatorial District.
INEC National Commissioner in Charge of information and voter education, Festus Okoye, stated this in Calabar during the Consultative meeting with the state Inter-Agency Consultative Committee on Election Security.
Okoye said all preparations have been made with the necessary stakeholders including the Security operatives, maintaining that any election conducted without the use of card readers will not be declared by the commission.

The Commissioner explained that two resident electoral commissioners have been deployed to the state to join the one on ground to guarantee success, stressing that he has relocated to Cross River until after the election.
The Commissioner Of Police, represented by his Deputy Julius Okoro said security arrangements have been put in place for the Saturday polls.
Over One thousand three hundred police personnel are on ground to guarantee adequate security during the electoral exercise.
