Cross River State Governor, Senator Bassey Otu, has directed the lifting of ban on timber lumbering in the state, with warning that Illegally sawn wood across the state was still an offence and anyone found culpable will be punished.
The Governor’s directive was contained in a statement signed by the Secretary to the State Government, Professor Anthony Owan Enoh, with reference number SSG/GSA/102/VOL.VI/226.
It stated that all registration of forestry related activities including permittee ship, non-timber permittee ship, registration of farmers in the forest reserve were to report to the Cross River State Forestry Commission for compliance.

The Governor also directed the immediate dissolution of the anti lumbering Taskforce
inline with the Cross River State Forest Law and Regulations 2011, saying anyone that violated the law will face the consequences.
