The wife of the Cross River State Governor, Eyoanwan Otu, has charged 192 beneficiaries of a skills empowerment programme to turn their acquired skills into sustainable businesses.
She gave the charge in Calabar at the graduation ceremony for beneficiaries trained in event design and decoration, where 120 outstanding participants received starter packs to begin their businesses.
The two-month training was held under the empowerment initiative of the wife of the Cross River State Governor, Eyoanwan Otu, with 192 beneficiaries drawn from across the state.
Representing the Governor’s wife, the Commissioner for Social Welfare, Margaret Ene-Ita, said the training was designed to equip beneficiaries with practical skills that could provide sustainable livelihoods and promote economic independence.
The facilitator, Esther Akiba, said the programme was aimed at helping participants move from acquiring skills to creating businesses.
She disclosed that all 192 graduands would receive certificates, while 120 outstanding participants would receive starter packs to support the start-up of their enterprises.
The beneficiaries were urged to put their skills to work, build sustainable enterprises and extend the impact by creating opportunities for others.
