Security collaboration between subnational governments and the military is gaining renewed attention as efforts intensify to safeguard lives and critical assets across the country.

In Cross River State, Governor Bassey Otu has reaffirmed his administration’s commitment to deepening partnership with the Nigerian Navy, describing security as the foundation for sustainable development.

Efforts to strengthen security across coastal states are receiving renewed attention, with Cross River State moving to deepen collaboration with the Nigerian Navy.

During a strategic engagement with the Commandant of the Nigerian Navy Ship, NNS Victory, Commodore Shuaib Ahmed, at Government House in Calabar, Governor Bassey Otu said sustaining peace remains central to unlocking economic growth and protecting critical assets within the state.

The Governor emphasized that tackling emerging threats requires more than isolated efforts, calling for stronger inter-agency coordination, intelligence sharing, and sustained institutional trust.

The Commandant of NNS Victory, Commodore Shuaib Ahmed, who recently assumed duty, said enhancing operational effectiveness remains a priority under his leadership.

He pointed to the need for improved infrastructure and communication systems, noting that evolving security challenges within the maritime domain require adaptive and well-coordinated responses.

The meeting underscores a deepening partnership between the Cross River State Government and the Nigerian Navy, setting the tone for more coordinated security efforts aimed at protecting lives, securing maritime assets, and sustaining economic confidence in the state.
