As part of the efforts to secure Cross River State in South-South Nigeria, the State Government has offered amnesty to repentant criminals who are willing to lay down their arms within the period to be announced soon.
State Commissioner of Police, Augustine Grimah, made this known after an emergency security meeting with Governor Bassey Otu in Calabar, the State capital.

The Police Commissioner who is the Chairman of Security Commanders in the state explained that operatives will continue to deal with militants, armed robbers, kidnappers, and other criminals who constitute a threat to the security of the state.
He assures that the repentant criminals among them will be rehabilitated and reintegrated into society by the State Government.
Governor Otu at meeting the heads of security agencies in the State after his inauguration pronounced that the security of lives and property will top the agenda of his administration.
