Cross River State Government says some of its newly established industries and its cocoa farm estate may be handed over to the private sectors to run on behalf of the government hence the need for a privatisation Council to put the process in place.
Governor Ben Ayade stated this during the inauguration of a ten-member Privatization Council in Calabar, Wednesday.
Represented by his Deputy, Prof Ivara Esu, Ayade charged the council to take the assignment seriously without yielding to any influence while discharging its duties.
According to Ayade, this will be in line with the oath of office taken to serve the interest of Cross River State and not that of individuals in ensuring that the assignment given is well done.
Responding, the Chairman of the State Council on Privatization, Mr. Monday John Odo, pledged to be firm in every transactions, and ensure that they discharge their responsibilities in accordance with their mandate.
