The government’s team led by the state Commissioner for Health, Dr Betta Edu, said the step-up campaign became necessary to educate the refugees and drivers on how the deadly virus can be contacted and the need for them to report any suspected case to the relevant authority.
Edu said health workers have been moved to various bus stops for screening of passengers in and out of their motor parks across the state.
On his part, the state Director of Vehicle Inspection Officer, VIO, Engr. Paul Bepeh, lauded the state government for the sensitization and assured that all transporters in the state must have hand sanitizers in their vehicles.
The Commissioner called on members of the public to promptly report anyone noticed with fever, coughing, headache, and history of travel to countries already affected by the outbreak to any health centre close to them in Cross River State.
